About Us

 

Originally, we were looking to start Drift as a restaurant, and after not being able to find a location within our budget & wanted area, decided to move to plan B. We hopped on a plane in March 2011, to visit Portland, Oregon, where they have hundreds of food cart options. We took a “behind the scenes” tour, and gathered a lot of information, which of course included eating at numerous carts, and the idea of Drift in a mobile form, started to take shape.

With having travelled to 5 of the 7 seven continents together over the last 5 years, we had the idea to combine flavors from these experiences, into our menu, and currently our sandwiches. Not only has tasting all sorts of food influenced our business, but also having experienced street food culture from all over the world. We’ve tried everything from horse burgers in Slovenia, to chicken heart skewers in Bulgaria, mango sticky rice in Thailand, and numerous other dishes in between. Most cities have some sort of curb-side option, and we thought it would be great to be a part of this concept in our own city.

We decided to take the plunge and found a great company, Pizza Trucks of Canada, to turn our ideas into a kitchen on wheels! We couldn’t be happier with our mobile eatery, as it has given us the opportunity to showcase our food and have fun at the same time. We are passionate about the food industry, and have over 30 years experience between us. We are both graduates from NAIT, Nevin as a Red Seal Chef from the Culinary program, and Kara from the Business Management Program. We are excited that we can take our experience & love for food, and share it with others.

So far the response  to ol’ Drifty has been great, and we couldn’t be more appreciative of our customers. Without you, we wouldn’t have been able to make our dream become the reality that it now is.
